Rosie
Rosie Bowker is a versatile flautist who enjoys a varied career as a solo, chamber and orchestral musician. She is in demand as a professional performer on both modern and historical flutes, and on piccolo. Rosie has performed in orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO), City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, RTE National Symphony Orchestra (Dublin), Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra, and Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment (OAE). As a concerto soloist Rosie has performed in Milton Court Concert Hall, Powderham Castle, and at Deal Festival and has appeared on BBC Radio 3. She was also a member of the Handel House Talent Scheme on baroque flute in 2017-18.

Rosie is a committed chamber musician and has won various prizes including the Tunnell Trust Awards Scheme, the St Martin-in-the-Fields Chamber Music Competition’s Audience Prize and the BREMF Live! Scheme with her ensembles Pocket Sinfonia and the Bowker-Myslek Duo. Rosie has performed chamber music concerts at festivals including Cambridge Summer Music Festival, Petworth Festival, Sherborne Abbey Festival, for City Music Society, Maidenhead Music Society and Purbeck Arts Weeks and at venues including Universitetets Aulaen, Oslo and St Martin-in-the-Fields.

Rosie also has a strong interest in educational and outreach work. She works regularly with LSO Discovery, OAE Tots and The English Concert’s ‘Crazy Composers’ and performs in hospitals, care homes and SEN schools for Live Music Now and Music in Hospitals and Care.

In 2016 Rosie graduated with an MPerf (Distinction) from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama where she now assistant teaches on the Interpretation through Improvisation elective.

Rosie performs on a Lillian Burkart Flute which she purchased with the generous support of EMI Sound Foundation, Brendan Griggs, Loan Fund for Musical Instruments, Pitt-Rivers Charitable Trust, Sherborne Abbey Festival, VEC Acorn Trust, Jane Vessey and Wessex Young Musicians’ Trust. Rosie is a graduate from Christ’s College, Cambridge with a BA(Hons) in Music in 2014.
