Rosie Bowker enjoys a varied career as a modern and period-instrument flautist.
Based in Southwest London, Rosie regularly performs with leading period instrument ensembles such as The English Concert, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and Academy of Ancient Music. She has played with orchestras such as City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and Royal Northern Sinfonia. With these ensembles, Rosie has performed in concert halls around the world including Carnegie Hall, Elbphilharmonie (Hamburg), Palais Garnier (Paris) and at the BBC Proms in the Royal Albert Hall.
Rosie is an enthusiastic chamber musician, appearing at festivals and venues across the UK and Europe. She performs on modern and classical-period flutes with Pocket Sinfonia, previous REMA (European Early Music Network) Showcase Artists and Brighton Early Music Festival Young Artists, and winners of the St. Martin-in-the-Field’s Chamber Competition Audience Prize. As a soloist, Rosie is a former Handel House Talent artist and has performed concertos at Deal Festival and Powderham Castle.
Passionate about education work, Rosie regularly works for LSO Discovery and OAEducation, and performs in hospitals, care homes and SEN schools for Live Music Now.
Rosie is a graduate of Cambridge University and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama where she studied with Lisa Beznosiuk, Katy Bircher, Philippa Davies, Gareth Davies and Christopher Green. Rosie now teaches on the Interpretation through Improvisation elective at Guildhall.
